Bringing School Supplies
I provide basic classroom materials such as paper, pencils, erasers, and crayons for regular daily use. Students are encouraged to bring their own spare pencils and erasers in the likely event that these materials are lost or broken. I discourage students from bringing "extra" materials such as sharpeners, staplers, pens, mechanical (lead) pencils, and hole punchers because I have often found them to be a distraction from learning. Let's try to keep things simple!
I also supply journals for writing and math. Occasionally I will ask students to take these journals home. It is the students' responsibility to treat these with care, to complete work in these journals, and to bring them back to school each day. If a student loses either journal, he or she will have to complete their work on loose sheets of paper until I can get a replacement.
